SENIOR GAME

Sunday Game Against Northern Colorado at 1 pm

The t-bird's family will miss our three seniors!!!

 #20 Sabrina Hernandez

Sabrina has been a fantastic teammate this season. She always brings laughs and a good attitude to practice. She is a strong midfielder who is such a threat on our attack with a deadly shot on frame. She loves cats and is majoring in Criminal Justice here at SUU.

#15 Kristy Hendrickson
Kristy has been our T-bird Captain this season and has been a great leader. Her sense of humor always makes our road trips and practices more enjoyable and entertaining. She is majoring as a elementary teacher to go on and teach little ninos more in school!

#22 Megan Mower
Mow has done it all this season going from a strong defender to a crazy good forward all within a few short weeks. She is kitty crazy and never hesitates to pet or hold a cute cat or dog is she sees one!! She is majoring in excerise science and is going to serve a mission in Salem, Oregon in February.

Best of luck to our seniors in all of their future endeavors!! :)

A Little Time in the Pacific Northwest

This past weekend was one of mixed emotions. We started our road trip with a scoreless draw on the road against the top-ranked Portland State Vikings. We had a few near chances that didn't quite come to fruition, but a point on the road is a positive outcome. During our stay in Hillsboro, we were able to stop in at Nancy's Aunt's house for a nice meal after a long day of travel--yum!

From there, we set off to Sacramento, our sights set on the Hornets on their Senior Day. The night before the game, we had a delicious dinner at Mackenzie's house, where we socialized and almost died laughing around a driveway campfire. It was a great bonding experience filled with shared facial expressions captured by Snapchat. (I would like to send a shout-out to the Morenos and Courtneys for great meals and wonderful evenings at both destinations. Your hospitality was incredible and much appreciated.)

We didn't quite have the showing on Sunday that we had wanted, and on that day, Sac State was the better team. Despite our loss, I was very proud of our team, and we will come back stronger from what we have learned. It is now evident to others what was clear from the beginning for us; we have a bright future and some very talented players. Next up on our list is North Dakota to kickoff a pivotal 4-game stretch. I have no doubt that we will rise to the occasion, step up, and win the games we need to win to hopefully secure a seed in the top 4 for a Big Sky Tournament berth. The Thunderbirds are on the rise, and we are here to prove it in our upcoming home-stand.

Last Week of September
By Kenz and Chan

This past week we had a rough loss to NAU. We played our hearts out and dominated the whole game but didn't quite come out on top. We're going to make the best of the situation though and head into the rest of our conference games with a positive attitude as we learn from our mistakes. We play Weber State and Idaho State this weekend, and we are really looking forward to adding some more wins to our record. The team is doing better than ever right now as we work to take care of our bodies by eating right and getting plenty of sleep. Our focus going into the next few weeks is to take extra amazing care of our bodies.
Kenz and I decided this quote pretty much wraps our week and what we expect from our future:

"A champion is someone who does not settle for that day's practice, that day's competition, that day's performance. They are always striving to be better. They don't live in the past."
Briana Scurry

We look forward to seeing lots of fans at our games this weekend on Friday at 4:00pm and Sunday at 1:00pm!
See you then!:)

Trip to Arizona! By Yaya & Chandler :)

This past week was very busy as we prepared to travel to Arizona to play two huge PAC-12 schools, the University of Arizona and Arizona State University.

First things first: SCHOOL! Everybody spent many hours in the library and study hall making sure we were all caught up in our classes.

After a LONG 10 hour bus ride full of loud singing, lots of sleeping, constant eating, and even more studying, we finally arrived in Arizona. We had a light practice to move our legs around and then went back to our RESORT to sleep. Yes, we stayed at a resort. Everyone went to their rooms to shower while watching the TV that was in the bathroom...it was AWESOME!

The next morning we woke up and went on a light jog to a waterfall behind our resort where we saw some cute couples taking pictures and even a proposal!!! Oh wait...it was just a few of our players  acting out what they wish would happen ;)

Then it was the time we were all waiting for...GAME TIME! We were lucky enough to have a sweet fan club there for us as well! We played under the lights against UofA and  lost a hard fought game 6-1.

It may not have been the result we wanted, but we were able to take away a lot of knowledge on how to improve our game. Plus, Kelsea Godfrey scored her first goal as a T-Bird and it was an amazing goal!! We like to say it was a bicycle kick :)

The next day was a much needed off day. We had the chance to go shopping at a HUGE mall in Arizona. Needless to say, we came home with a lot more than we brought with us :) We then ate at Cheesecake Factory where we all graciously chowed down on some amazing dinner and of course yummy cheesecake!!

We ended the night with a stretch in the pool which led to a little craziness from our team...overall we had a really fun time to end the day full of team bonding that would help us in our game the next day.

In the game against ASU a whole new SUU team came out to play. We played much better and improved a lot from the previous game. We had some unlucky goals scored against us and lost 4-0, but we still showed a lot of growth as a team. Playing these two PAC-12 schools helped us a lot as a team and will definitely give us an edge going into our Big Sky Conference.

The best part of the weekend was that 3 of our amazing players represented SUU and made us all extremely proud by making the all-tournament team!!!
  • Arizona Cats Classic All-Tournament Team:
Kaitlyn Lopez (UA), Hayley Estopare (UA), Mykaylin Rosenquist (UA), Cali Farquharson (ASU), Kaitlyn Pavlovich (ASU), Holland Crook (ASU), Andrea Albrecht (SUU), Annabelle Schwab (SUU), Breanna Brown (SUU), Janine Beckie (TTU), Hayley Haagsma (TTU), Victoria Esson (TTU).

Unfortunately, we had a very upsetting injury happen to Aurora "Ro" Moberly during the game against UofA. However, we know she will heal quickly and come back stronger than ever. We all love you very much Ro!!!

We are all happy to finally be home for a while as we have 5 home games in a row. We would love to have as much support as possible!! See you there! :)

This week was all in preparation for our game this Sunday against the University of Utah at the U at 1:00. It was a very tough week both physically and mentally but we persevered! We are all very excited to play them and are ready for our rematch against them, and have all our hard work pay off! ALSO a huge shout out to our assistant coach Adam! Today is his birthday! He is turning 30 today, can't believe you made it this far having to deal with 25 girls everyday! Thanks so much for all you do for us! And to all our T-Bird fans...Thanks for all your support!

Teeny & Lindsey's week to blog! ENJOY :)

Rise and shine everyone, we're off to Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado!

Bus left Cedar at 4:00 AM!!!! (yawn)

Arrived in Vegas just in time to see the beautiful sunrise :)

See ya later Vegas...

Meg stuffing her giant bag into the overhead compartment. Not an easy task when we have to fit all of our stuff for about 4 days in one bag!

And we've arrived!

Hello Colorado!!!!

Needless to say we're all a little tired while waiting at baggage claim.

Oh the things ya see in Colorado. Haha nice boots man :P

After a short practice at the field at CC, we headed off to lunch then to the hotel for nap time!

GAME DAY!

Victory over Vermont 3-1

Both B. Browns got on the board this game. Bre (Sunshine) Brown with the first one and Bri Brown with the next two!

After a great win against Vermont, we enjoyed some yummy dinner at Old Chicago. As we were leaving we ran into a BIG, BAD, SCARY...................... Raccoon! Hahahahaha!!  A group of 18 girls and a raccoon was a very hilarious sight to see. Oh and you can't forget the coachs too. Rumor has it Becky pushed one of our center backs out of the way to save herself from the scary creature!

On Saturday, we spent our day off at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Pretty cool to see where all the best athletes train!

"Smells like a champion" - Brina

The next day we fell to Appalachian State 2-1 and sort after it was time to head back home to Cedar.

Adios Colorado!

Bus ride back to Cedar!

Although we didn't leave Colorado with two wins like we had hoped, we definitely made some great strides in the right direction. We have a great team and we're all so excited to see what the rest of the season has in store for us! #tbirdnation
